Archdiocese of Manila to hold "Family is a Gift Conference"

The Commission on Family and Life of the Archdiocese of Manila will hold a “Family is a Gift Conference” at the St. Paul College, Pasig, on October 26, 2019.

The conference, which is in line with the celebration of the Year of the Youth is aimed to positively proclaim the beauty of family, to expose the many challenges posed by modernity, and to propose the effective response.

“The conference will be one of the concrete actions of the church in journeying with her people. The families are facing a lot of challenges today. The reality of the influence of social media, relativism, irregular situation of families, and the lowering of the value of faith are some of them. It will offer timely and appropriate approaches in facing those challenges that they may see and realize the beauty of their families,” Bro. Edgardo Cabuello, lay coordinator of Commission on Family and Life explained.

The event will commence with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist to be presided by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle at 8 in the morning.

The plenary session will begin with the talk of Cardinal Tagle on “Family is a Gift.”  His talk will help the faithful to understand God’s plan for the family in the light of Amoris Laetitia "The Joy of Love," an exhortation by Pope Francis addressing the pastoral care of families. Recognize the challenges that modern families face and learn how you can overcome these challenges as a family.

Bro. Michael “Shok” Ariola of Couples for Christ will be the speaker for the topic entitled “Pamilya: Tawag at Tugon” and will tackle how families can make the best out of God’s original plan for the family and how they can share their giftedness to other families.

There will be eight concurrent sessions (4 tracks for parents and 4 tracks for the youth) in the afternoon that will be facilitated by experts in their respective fields.

Expected to participate in the event are Family and Life volunteers, PPC members, Youth Ministry members, catechists, and those who are in charge of parish formation.

The conference will be concluded with LIVELOUD Concert that will feature contemporary Catholic praise and worship songs.

Rev. Fr. Joel Jason, Commissioner, Family and Life of the Archdiocese of Manila will lead the commissioning and consecration of families and the young people.

“Family is a Gift Conference” is in coordination with the Archdiocesan Commission on Youth and Couples for Christ. (Jheng M. Prado/RCAM-AOC)
