Cardinal Tagle to Interview Celebrities in "Pista ng Misyon"

The Archdiocese of Manila will hold Pista ng Misyon at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay on October 18, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Pista ng Misyon is in line with the Holy Father’s declaration of October 2019 as Extraordinary Missionary month in celebration of the centenary of the promulgation of Pope Benedict XV’s Apostolic Letter Maximum Illud – an important papal document on a mission.

Celebrities Cherry Pie Picache, Dingdong Dantes, and Marian Rivera will join Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle in one of the segments of the celebration called “Usapang Misyon”.

Msgr. Bong Lo, National Director of the Pontifical Mission Society in the Philippines, expressed hi invitation to the faithful.

The document Maximum Illud, according to Msgr. Lo, was written by Pope Benedict XV in 1919 and was in the context of the aftermath of World War I to evangelically renew the church concerning mission awareness, mission consciousness, and mission statement.

“Noong isinulat po ito ni Pope Benedict XV, it was in the context of the aftermath of World War I, na ang buong mundo at ang buong simbahan ay talagang nag-suffer sa trahedya, sa trauma ng Unang Pandaigdigang Digmaan,” Msgr. Lo said.

At the conclusion of the Year of the Youth, as the young people partake in the mission of evangelization, Msgr. Lo challenged them  to take the Pista ng Misyon as an avenue to share the catholic faith.

Pero the more we exercise the more we strengthen ourselves. Ganun din po ang mission. The more we make time, exert effort to share our faith to others to tell the world of his love, the more we ourselves are blessed, the more our church is blessed,” Msgr. Lo said.

Pista ng Misyon will be a celebration full of songs and dancing, thanksgiving, and sharing of stories about God’s abiding graciousness.
