Before the celebration of the Mass, the Profession of Faith of Bishop Gaa was held at the chapel in Residencia del Arzobispo in Intramuros followed by the procession to the Manila Cathedral along with his fellow priests.

In his homily, Cardinal Tagle expressed the archdiocese’s gratefulness to the Lord for the gift in Bishop Gaa.

“And we are grateful to God that the Archdiocese of Manila who has received the beautiful gift in Fr. Robbie is now asked to share that gift to others especially to Novaliches. That’s the nature of the gift. It is given and must be continuously given. If it is not given anymore, it ceases,” Cardnal Tagle said.

He also reminded Bishop Gaa whose ordination falls on the Memorial of the Queenship of Mary, to keep the Blessed Mother in his mission to spread the word of Christ.

“We hope that your ordination as a bishop on the Queenship of Mary would constantly remind you that the royal people, the kingly people must be led in faith so that it is the kingdom of our Lord Jesus served beautifully, profoundly by the Queen Mother who listened to the Word of God, who put it into practice even it spelled out inconveniences for her. That’s your personal mission and mission has a vision,” the Cardinal said.

Bishop Gaa was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Novaliches by Pope Francis last June 6, 2019. Before he was appointed, he has been serving as Rector at the Holy Apostles Senior Seminary (HASS) in Guadalupe, Makati City.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas of Lingayen-Dagupan and Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara of Pasig served as the co-consecrators for the ordination of the new bishop.

Also present during the event were Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines  Archbishop Gabriele Caccia, Archbishop Emeritus of Manila Gaudencio Cardinal Rosales, CBCP President Archbishop Romulo Valles, Bishop Emeritus of Novaliches Anotnio Tobias, Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo, and other bishops from the different dioceses of the Philippines.

On August 24, 2019, Bishop Roberto Gaa was installed as third Bishop of the Diocese of Novaliches at the Cathedral Shrine and Parish of the Good Shepherd in Fairview, Quezon City. (Jheng M. Prado/RCAM-AOC)
