4th Season of Creation to end on October 8

The celebration of the 4thSeason of Creation in the Archdiocese of Manila will be concluded on October 8, 2016 with a Eucharistic Celebration to be presided by Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle, D.D. to be held at the San Isidro Parish in Pasay City at 4:30 p.m.


In response to the call of Pope Francis “that we take good care of creation – a gift freely given,” the Archdiocese of Manila – Ministry for Environment and Disaster Response has lined up a series of activities for schools, parishes, ministries, communities and organizations as part of the culminating program.


The celebration will begin with a Creation Walk from Vito Cruz to San Isidro Catholic School on October 8. This will be participated by volunteers from schools, parishes and different sectors.


There will also be an exhibit of various ecological issues and solutions, study session on Laudato Si in Contemporary Challenges, Ecological Artwork for children and youth, and Laudato Si quiz bee in schools.


There will also be a two-day Seminar on Disaster Risk Reduction and Communication by Smart Communication from October 7-8, 2016. There will also be seminars on the following topics: Urban Farming/Gardening, Residual Wastes with Potential Recovery Caravan, Accessing and Training Solar Energy Technology Fabrication, and Sustainably Managing School Ecology Program.


The distribution of the certificate of appreciation to all the participating organizations and partners, the recognition of parishes and volunteers who actively participate during the event,  the DRRM Graduation and the awarding of winners from the quiz bee will all be held before the final blessing of the Mass on October 8.


The opening of the 4th Season of Creation was held at the Lay Formation Center in Makati City onSeptember 1, the date also set by Pope Francis as the “World Day of Prayer for the care of Creation.”


This year’s theme was “Mercy to God’s Creation is Mercy to the Next Generation through Reconciliation with God’s Creation.” A Concelebrated Eucharistic Celebration by Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo preceded by various ecological activities were held during the opening.
