This year's theme "Ala Eh, Kita Dine!", a Batangueño expression which means "Come Here" or (I can) See From Here is anchored on Pope Francis' message on World Communications Day, "We are Members One of Another (Eph 4,25); From social netwotk communities to human community".

The convention is an invitation to all Catholic Communicators to come together, see and discover from various perspective the different ways on how to create genuine human encounter through effective, interactive and responsible use of media, particularly the social media.

The four-day event opened with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist presided by Lipa Archbishop Gilbert Garcera held at the Montemaria, Mother of all Asian Shrine in Batangas City. He was joined by Pasig Bishop Mylo Hubert Vergara, out-going Chairman of the CBCP Episcopal Commission on Social Communication and Boac Bishop Marcelino Maralit, Jr., incoming Chairman of CBCP-ECSC.

In his homily, Bishop Garcera pointed out the three important things that a social communicator must remember to be able to preach the truth in their ministry: Warning from the Gospel, Jesus in Prayer, and Renewal of Truth.

"The renewal for truth ang magpapanibago na tayo ay instrumento ng Diyos upang ipahayag ang kanyang katotohanan," Bishop Garcera said.

The 5th National Catholic Media Convention is organized by the Catholoc Bishops' Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Social Communication (CBCP-ECSC) and runs from August 6-9, 2019. It is hosted by the Archdiocese of Lipa. (Jheng M. Prado/RCAM-AOC)
