“This devotion to the Sacred Heart is what we badly need today to experience God’s love in our lives. And this is what our Lord Jesus Christ brought to us, to remind us how much he loves each and every one of us,” Msgr. Clemente said during Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on June 28, 2019, at the Arzobispado de Manila Chapel in Intramuros.

Msgr. Ignacio, Moderator Curiae and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Manila spoke of the relevance of the devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus as the people face the modern times where there is a need for speed and fast-moving changes.

“Kung mapapansin natin ang bilis bilis ngayon ng buhay. Ang daming pagbabagong nangyayari. Pati nga sa pag order lang ng celfone or sa internet, gustung gusto natin sana yung mabilis ayaw natin ng mabagal,” Msgr. Clemente said.

In his reflection, he told the employees how the world was transformed from the Middle Age to the modern time through changes in technology in terms of communication, particularly in the social media used by the young people of today and how this greatly affects their personality.

According to him, even if the youth regularly checks their social media for the latest news, trends, events, and updates from their peers, they still feel isolated.

“Ang mga kabataan tumataas ang mga cases ng suicide. Maraming nawawala, hindi nila nakita ang sarili nila. Ang stress level ay napakataas. At ang feeling of isolation has grown so much,” Msgr. Clemente said.

“Merong study na ginawa sa U.S., yung one of the fears of the young people of today is to experience FOMO. Ano ba yung FOMO - fear of missing out,” he added.

Before he ended his homily, Msgr. Clemente who is also the Commissioner of the Social Communications Ministry of RCAM reminded the employees of God’s love who is the source of life and peace.

After the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament was held followed by the announcement and awarding of winners of the 2019 RCAM Bowling tournament in the afternoon. (Jheng M. Prado/RCAM-AOC)
