Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Cardinal Tagle tells students

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle encouraged the students of San Carlos Seminary to seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit as the seminary marked the beginning of the academic and formation year.

In his homily during the Mass of the Holy Spirit held at the San Carlos Seminary on June 10, Cardinal Tagle stressed that aside from the wisdom the students gained from their formators and teachers, the Holy Spirit also plays an important role in the formation of the seminarians.

“God forms us continuously even after ordination or even after the seminary life. It was the Holy Spirit that formed the human Jesus in the womb, only the Holy Spirit can form Christ in others,” Cardinal Tagle said.

The Archbishop of Manila also expressed his hope that the seminarians will find their inspiration from the life of Christ as the new school year begins.

In addition, Cardinal Tagle asked the students to resonate in their words and deeds the virtues of Christ with the help of the Holy Spirit.

“The work of the Holy Spirit is to form Jesus in us so that when we open our hearts we would only be inspired by the Holy Spirit to say and pray the marvel he has done,” Cardinal Tagle said.

At present, there are more than 170 seminarians in San Carlos Seminary, while there are 30 from the Lorenzo Mission Institute. (Jheng M. Prado/RCAM-AOC)
