Cardinal Tagle asks Filipinos to pray for refugees in the world

Manila Archbishop Luis Antonio G. Cardinal Tagle asked the Filipino people to pray for all the refugees in the world especially in the Middle East.

 

Cardinal Tagle, who is also the President of Caritas Internationalis visited Lebanon where millions of Syrian are staying. He makes sure that Caritas is helping these refugees by providing them the basic necessities they need.

 

In a message sent through Radio Veritas, Cardinal Tagle expressed his sadness over the worsening crisis of refugees from the Middle East.  In his message, he called on the faithful to unite in prayers so that the voice of the Church can be heard throughout the world.  He as well urged the leaders of the Middle East countries to work together and look after the welfare of its people.

 

“The refugee problem here in the Middle East defies understanding.  We pray! May the Church be heard as a voice of sanity and humaneness in the world as many leaders of the nation take the dreadful path of intolerance and narrow mindedness.  Mary, our mother of Mercy, Pray for us,” message of Cardinal Tgale to Radio Veritas.

 

According to data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), 4.8 million people are refugees in Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Iraq.

 

6.6 million were internally displaced persons in Syria while a million are cared for by Europe.
