Prayer is power says Bishop Pabillo

Manila Auxiliary Bishop Broderick Pabillo stressed the power of prayer during the “Online Prayer Meeting for Peace” held on July 27, 2017 at 12 noon.

“Ang panalangin connects us not only with God but with one another.  Kaya ito pong online prayer meeting natin although iba’t iba ang ating pinanggalingan, nasa iba’t ibang kalagayan tayo ngayon po ay nagkakaisa sa Panginoon. At maniwala po tayo na prayer is powerful.”

In his reflection during the prayer meeting aired at the Facebook page of Radio Veritas, Bishop Pabillo remained hopeful despite the country’s problems in terrorism, insurgencies, and addiction. He encouraged the faithful not to feel helpless but to be united in prayers as they ask for peace in the land.

“That should not be our attitude kasi alam po natin na may magagawa tayo. At ito ang panalangin ang isang magagawa natin kahit saan. At ngayon nagsasma sama tayong magdarasal para po sa kapayapaan. And as we know prayer is a power. It’s our power. And somehow God listens to our prayers, dahil po sa pag-ibig ng Diyos sa atin.”

Also, during his reflection, he asked the faithful to pray for peace not just on earth but peace within their hearts.

“Let us ask the Lord to give peace. Peace, yes, peace on earth. But first and foremost peace within our hearts. Kasi kung kailangan po natin ng kapayapaan, kasi ang makapagdarasal sa kapayapaan ay yung mga tao na may kapayapaan sa puso nila. At ang kapayapaan sa puso natin ang magdadala ng kapayapaan sa ating relationships, lalung lalo na sa ating pamilya at ito’y lalawak din sa kapayapaan sa mundo.”

Reflecting on the theme “Peace in Our Country, Peace in Our Home, Our Relationships and Ourselves”, Pabillo said that to have inner peace, one must learn to forgive and ask for forgiveness.  He cited that Jesus Christ came to the world to bring peace by accepting our failures and weaknesses. And by dying on the cross, he saved us from our sins.

Bishop Pabillo prayed for the intentions of the Holy Father, world leaders, government officials and employees, businessmen, youth and those who are suffering from sickness.

He also included in his prayers for peace in the country, continued Evangelization, Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) all over the world, for the safety and health of the Filipinos, and those who are victims of increment weather.

Bishop Pabillo was joined by Mr. Jun Cruz of Ligaya ng Panginoon as worship leader.

The Online Prayer Meeting for Peace is aired monthly at Radio Veritas and features different bishops to lead the prayers and other activities.

An online prayer meeting is a gathering within an internet platform such as a website or social media page that aims to connect with one another and unite various prayer intentions.
