RE: PRAYERS FOR THE ELECTION OF THE SUPREME PONTIFF
Dear Reverend / Monsignori / Fathers:
Greetings of peace!
As we continue to mourn the death of our beloved Pope John Paul II and pray for the repose of his soul, the Archbishop requests Your Reverences to lead and encourage your parishioners o include in their intentions the members of the College of Cardinals task for the Conclave on Monday, April 18 to begin the process of election. We ask the good Lord to send the Holy Spirit upon them to guide them in choosing our Shepherd.

Prayers of the Faithful
Celebrant:
We turn to our heavenly Father who listens to the prayers of his children. In faith we pray: Lord, graciously hear us.
For the whole Church, that she may always remain faithful to the task of proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ to all, we pray to the Lord: Lord, graciously hear us.
For those who are tasked to elect the new Pope, that they may be imbued with the Spirit of discernment and unparalleled love for the Church and her mission in the world today, let us pray to the Lord: Lord, graciously hear us.
For all government leaders, that they may always be inspired and empowered by the Gospel of life and love, we pray to the Lord: Lord, graciously hear us.
For all of us that we may grow in faith through obedience to the Gospel proclaimed through the Church today, we pray to the Lord: Lord, graciously hear our prayer.
For all who died especially Pope John Paul II, that they may be rewarded by God with the gift of eternal life. We pray to the Lord: Lord graciously hear us.
We now pray in silence for our personal intentions

God our, loving Father, listen to your people who pray to you in faith. Grant us what we ask you in the name of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, for ever and ever.

Special prayer (To be said, kneeling down, after communion)
God, our loving Father, You keep together those you have united. Look kindly on us and hear our prayers. We pray for those who have been tasked To elect the Vicar of Christ on earth, and the successor to the apostle Peter. Fill them with your love, wisdom and your Spirit. That they may always seek only what you desire for your Church. Help us all to listen to your Word, and through the Chief Shepherd you will give us Build your Church into a sacrament of unity, love and peace for all the world.
We ask this through our lord Jesus Christ, your Son, Who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit One God, for ever and ever.
