Circular No. 2005-27 30 August 2005 POSITION OF THE ARCHBISHOP OF MANILA re: GUESTS PRIESTS Whereas, with the creation of five other suffragan dioceses out of the Mother Archdiocese, the Archdiocese of Manila has been greatly reduced in land area and territorial jurisdiction; Whereas, the present Archbishop of Manila, with foresight, looks ahead to a good number if future priests for the Archdiocese of Manila coming from the different ministries in Metro Manila; Whereas, considering the Archdiocese is not growing in number in size, attention is seriously focused in the different ministries where incarnated priests of the Archdiocese can be assigned; Whereas, it is noted that many guests priests (those coming from other dioceses in and out of the country) have filed their application for possible incardination into the Archdiocese of Manila; Wherefore, the undersigned, the present Archbishop of Manila, considering seriously the abovementioned circumstances, and after hearing the advice of the Board of Consultors, and giving due respect to the provisions of Canon 268 #1, wishes to make known that the policy of the Archdiocese is that guest priests ministering in the Archdiocese of Manila may continue to stay under these conditions : (a) that they are allowed by their respective diocesan bishops; (b) and that they are duly notified that incardination into the Archdiocese is not possible at this time.
