RE: PRISON AWARENESS SUNDAY (October 28, 2007)
Dear Rev. Monsignor/Father:
Grace and peace of the Lord.
May we inform Your Reverence that the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines – Episcopal Commission on Prison Pastoral Care headed by Most Rev. Pedro Arigo, D.D., will celebrate its 20th annual celebration of Prison Awareness Sunday (PAS) on October 28, 2007 with the theme: “Discovering the Face of Christ among Prisoners.”
According to Bishop Arigo, “This year’s celebration focuses on the role of the community to facilitate the process of reconciliation of the inmates with himself, the victim and with God. It seeks the full and direct accountability of the offenders, the need to be forgiven by the victim and the community’s role to heal the hurt caused by crime. This is in consonance with the Commissions’ commitment to advance the idea of justice that heals.”
Herewith are posters for the celebration and a liturgy guide that Your Reverence may use during the October Eucharistic Celebration.
