RE: WORLD DAY OF THE SICK (FEBRUARY 9, 2008)

Dear Monsignors, fathers and Sisters, 


Greetings of Peace!


Last 13th of May 1992, Pope John Paul II instituted “WORLD DAY OF THE SICK” to be celebrated on the month of February every year.  In this celebration, we are urged to show our love, compassion, and care for the sick, the aged, the disabled, and the dying.


This coming 9th of February 2008 (Saturday), in commemoration of the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes on February 11, the Archdiocese of Manila – Ministry of Health Care in coordination with the Philippine Association Sovereign Military Order of Malta shall celebrate an Archdiocesan mass for the sick to commemorate the 16th World Day of the Sick.  His Eminence Gaudencio B. Cardinal Rosales, D.D., Archbishop of Manila will be the main celebrant.  The said event will be held in Holy Spirit Parish (Espiritu Santo Parish), 1912 Rizal Avenue, Sta. Cruz, Manila at 9 a.m.


On this special day, let us show to our sick brothers and sisters that we truly care for them by inviting them to come over especially those who can attend the mass. Let us also show our solidarity with them by also making ourselves present in this celebration.
